Color reduction lino on paper. Some of my favorite pieces of Pre-Columbian art are Lintels 24-25 which shows Lady Xoc practicing a blood letting ritual by running a thorny rope through a hole in her tongue. In lintel 25 her sacrifice conjures a snake which opens ITS mouth and speaks with the tongue of her ancestors. People have been trying to commune with ancestors throughout time. In this work, I’m addressing speech, communication, and misunderstandings.
Hand printed from a hand-carved linoleum block, inked, and printed on archival paper. Printed on a Takach etching press. All archival materials.
